Medicinal qualities of Hash

Used for thousands of years for both medicinal and religious reasons by Arabic and Hindu cultures, hash is one of the purest forms of THC. Hash consists of the trichomes from the cannabis plant which are the THC-rich, resinous material that glistens on the outside of the plant’s flowers and leaves.Since hash has been around for so long and is widely used in different cultures, the process for making it can differ slightly. The general process for making hash includes stripping the trichomes from the plant matter and then compressing them into variety of forms such as balls, cakes, or cookie-like sheets. Hash is sold in solid pieces ranging in color from light brown to red to black; the texture also varies from dry and brittle to soft and crumbly. Along with smoking, hash can also be ingested. Hash is notably stronger than smoking marijuana by itself;while marijuana alone tests at around 20 percent THC potency, hash tests anywhere from 60 to 70 percent. Being derived from the marijuana flowers, hash has similar medicinal effects. The benefit of hash comes from its strong potency which makes it very effective in reducing body pain, increasing appetite stimulation, and aiding in sleep. Medical Marijuana Consumption: Smoking vs. Vaporizing

Humans have used the smoke and vapors of plants and herbs for thousands of years for medicinal and religious purposes, and as technology evolves, so do the means of inhaling the beneficial remedies. Today, as the legalization for medical marijuana sweeps across the states, more studies are being done on the methods of medicating. The most common use of consuming cannabis is smoking; however, we are all aware that the heat from combustion can be damaging to our throats and lungs. Burning or igniting medical marijuana releases some of the active medicinal components of cannabis (aka THC, CBD, and CBN), however some believe that roughly 25-50% of the effective cannabinoids are destroyed in the process. Combustion also causes the release of unwanted by-products like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, tar, ash, and other substances that are harmful to the human body and can later cause serious health issues.

Vaporizing, on the other hand, is a less destructive method of medicating with cannabis. During vaporization, ground up medicine is gently heated to smoke without igniting the herb. Recent studies show that vaporizing can actually increase the reception of cannabinoids and the onset of medicinal effects. Also, less carbon monoxide and tar is released, thus reducing the risks of inhaling smoke. Though smoking marijuana is not as dangerous as smoking tobacco, many MMJ patients prefer vaporizing because of its smoothness and consistent dosaging.
